Possible Exchange Periods
Unless the student exchange agreement with your home institution specifies otherwise, you could study at UAlberta on exchange only during our Fall Term (September – December), Winter Term (January – April) or for a Full Year (Fall + Winter Terms).
Please note:
1) Although you could study at UAlberta in our Fall + Winter Terms, we would not be able to consider a single application for study during our Winter + Fall Terms (i.e., during a calendar year). Our application system is not set up to accept calendar year applications. Exchanges in a calendar year might be possible but would require 2 separate applications (i.e., one application for the Winter Term and then, at a later date, the other application for the Fall Term).
2) You cannot study at UAlberta during our Spring Term (May – June) or during our Summer Term (July – August).
3) You are welcome to participate in any relevant in-person orientation events and welcome services that are scheduled before the start of classes each term:
- In-person orientation events and welcome services can change in nature, timing, and length from year to year so make sure that any information you find on the ualberta.ca website is correct and up-to-date for the time that you wish to participate.
- When registering for orientation events and welcome services please identify yourself as an undergraduate student or graduate student if no option is provided to identify yourself as an exchange student.
- Be sure to check with UAlberta Residence Services at housing@ualberta.ca to ensure that you will be permitted to move into your on-campus housing early enough to facilitate your participation in any desired orientation events and/or welcome services.
