Eligibility

In order to apply to participate in the Araucaria UARE Program, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a designated Araucaria institution
  • Have the approval/permission of their home university to participate in UARE
  • Be approved for Araucaria funding
  • Completed at least 2 years of their undergraduate program and/or be entering 3rd or 4th year of study
  • Have a minimum GPA of B, or 3.0 on a 4-point scale, ideally higher to be competitive
  • Suitable proficiency in English to perform research
    • While a formal English test result is not a requirement to apply for the UARE program, a minimum score of TOEFL 70 iBT, IELTS 5.5, and/or DET 90 or above on informal or practice tests generally indicates that you possess the necessary communication skills to successfully perform research
    • U of A Host Professors or Supervisors/Mentors may request a video meeting with applicants during the selection process to screen for suitability, as desired
